I start wondering, well how would Teyla and Ronon know what that is? For instance, don't even get me started on how everyone came to speak English, that just baffles my mind. I mean seriously. English didn't even surface until like A.D. or something.
And what about the fact that no worlds the SGA guys visit speak weird foreign languages, tribal or anything? What, there is only one universal language? Yeah right.
So then I start thinking about certain words. Even if English was for some miraculous reason a universal language, how the hell would Ronon and Teyla and people know the word kidnapping, or sword. I mean sure, maybe they do have swords, but why do they call them swords.
Then I start thinking about things like the Hoffans and the Satedans, Why is it that doctors and nursing personel wear white? Why do the hospitals look similar? Why are they called hospitals? Why do chemists use test tubes? I mean seriously, test tubes, and WTF MICROSCOPE!?!
Even if for some reason a world came to be similar to Earth, you wouldn't have as many worlds as on the show, and they wouldn't have nearly the same amount of similarities.
From what we know of Earth's culture, things were different back in the day so we didn't develop our culture from the Ancients. So what the hell? I mean it's not even like in SG1 where the planets in the milkyway were cultivated from Earth cultures by the Goa'uld. Nope, Pegasus is just like this weird ass imitation Earth galaxy that literally makes no sense.
If you think about it hard enough it gives you a headache, so I try not to, but every once in a while it just kind of makes you think.
